Grown on steep mountain slopes
Blue Mountain coffee is typically grown between about 3,000 and 5,500 feet, below a summit that reaches 7,402 feet. Height slows the cherry’s ripening.

Why it costs what it costs
Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is not a flavour or a roast. It is a protected name for coffee grown in one defined mountain region in the east of the island, and only that coffee may carry it.
01 · Altitude
Blue Mountain coffee is typically grown between about 3,000 and 5,500 feet, below a summit that reaches 7,402 feet. Height slows the cherry’s ripening.
02 · Climate
Cool temperatures, heavy rainfall and the cloud that settles over the ridges most days shape a slow-grown, mild cup.
03 · Craft
Cherries are picked as they ripen, processed in Jamaica and inspected before export. Each roaster then shapes the beans into its own cup.

Jamaica is 146 miles long, and about half of it sits more than 1,000 feet above the sea. The coffee story starts in the east.
02 / 06 · Blue Mountain Peak · 2,256 m
North-east of Kingston, the Blue Mountains climb to 7,402 feet, the island’s highest point. The coffee grows on steep slopes, typically between about 3,000 and 5,500 feet, and only coffee from this defined region can be called Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee.
03 / 06 · The coffee tree
One branch carries green, yellow and ripe red fruit at the same time, so the cherries are picked by hand, in several passes.
04 / 06 · The cherry
Under the red skin and sweet pulp sit two beans, flat sides facing. In about one cherry in twenty only a single round bean forms: the peaberry.
05 / 06 · Processed & roasted
The beans are pulped, washed, dried and graded in Jamaica before export. Roasting turns the pale green seed into the coffee you know.

Brewed at home, Blue Mountain coffee is known for a clean, mild, well-balanced cup. Which part of the mountain will you taste first?
Buying with confidence
Blue Mountain coffee is one of the most imitated names in coffee. Here is how to tell the real thing, and how we label every coffee we sell.
CERTIFIED DISTRIBUTOR
Coffee Roasters of Jamaica has certified One Happy Coffee as a distributor of its Jamaica Blue Mountain® coffee for the USA, Canada and Europe.
CHECK 01
Genuine Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee says 100%. A “Blue Mountain coffee blend” or “style” can be mostly other coffee. We label blends as blends.
CHECK 02
The coffees we stock name their Jamaican roaster or estate on the pack. Many ship to you directly from Jamaica.
CHECK 03
Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is a protected designation. Coffee exported under the name is certified by Jamaica’s coffee regulator.
CHECK 04
Jamaica High Mountain is grown below the Blue Mountain region. It is good coffee at a different price, and we never sell it as Blue Mountain coffee.

Who you’re buying from
We don’t need to sell Blue Mountain coffee. It sells itself. We just make it available.
Barrington’s love of coffee goes back to his great-grandfather, Pappa Sammy, who made Jamaica High Mountain coffee.
One Happy Coffee is a family business. We don’t grow or roast the coffee ourselves. We choose it, from the Jamaican estates and roasters named on every bag, and we stand behind every order.
Some of our customers have been buying their Blue Mountain coffee from us for years: 76 of our 180 customers in the last twelve months had ordered from us before.
