If you live in the United States and want real Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, you have more choices than ever. You also have more chances to end up with a bag that isn't what it seems.
Barrington has been in coffee for about sixteen years, and together we sell Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee to customers across the US. So yes, we're one of the options on this list. We'll still give you an honest view of all of them, because a customer who knows what to look for is the kind of customer we want.
The short answer: The most reliable places to buy genuine Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee in the US are authorized resellers of named Jamaican brands and specialty roasters who can prove their green beans are certified. Supermarkets mostly carry blends, and marketplaces like Amazon have both genuine and doubtful listings, so check the seller, not just the brand.
Your options at a glance
| Where | What you'll usually find | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Supermarkets and big-box stores | Mostly "Blue Mountain blends" | Small print on the percentage |
| Amazon and other marketplaces | Genuine Jamaican brands, plus look-alikes | Unknown third-party sellers, old stock |
| US specialty roasters | Sometimes genuine, roasted in the US | Ask for proof of where the green beans came from |
| Jamaican coffee specialists | 100% coffee, roasted and packed in Jamaica | Make sure they're authorized and say where orders ship from |
Supermarkets and big-box stores
You'll often see "Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee" on supermarket shelves, but look closely and most of those bags are blends. A blend may contain only a small share of Blue Mountain coffee, and the rest comes from elsewhere.
There's nothing wrong with enjoying a blend, as long as you know that's what you're buying. If the bag doesn't say 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, it isn't. And genuine 100% coffee is rarely priced for the supermarket aisle.
Amazon and online marketplaces
Several genuine Jamaican brands are sold on Amazon, and many shoppers buy there happily. The thing to know is that the brand on the listing and the seller shipping it aren't always connected.
Before you order on a marketplace:
- Check who the seller is, not just the brand name in the title.
- Read recent reviews for comments about stale coffee or packaging that looks different from the photos.
- Look for a named Jamaican roaster or estate in the listing.
- Be wary of prices far below what the same brand costs elsewhere.
US specialty roasters
Some American roasters buy certified green Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee and roast it here. That can be completely genuine, and you may get a recent roast date.
We do this ourselves for one coffee: our own One Happy Coffee two-pack is 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, roasted in small batches in Georgia and shipped from the US. The thing to ask any roaster is simple: where did the green beans come from, and can you show it? A good roaster will be glad you asked.
Jamaican coffee specialists and authorized resellers
This is where we sit. A specialist that focuses on Jamaican coffee usually carries coffee that was grown, roasted and packed in Jamaica by the estate or roaster named on the bag, then sent on to you.
The key word is authorized. A specialist should be able to tell you which brands they're authorized to sell and show you something that proves it.
Five questions to ask any US seller
Wherever you shop, these five questions will tell you most of what you need to know:
- Is it 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee? If not, what percentage is it?
- Who grew and roasted it? Look for a named Jamaican estate or roaster.
- Are you authorized to sell this brand? Ask how they're connected to the source.
- Where will it ship from, and how long will it take? A clear answer is a good sign.
- What happens if I'm not happy? A confident seller has a simple returns policy.

How we answer those questions
We're a family business: Barrington and Sara. Here's how we'd answer those five questions about One Happy Coffee.
What we sell. Every coffee in our Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee collection is 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee. Blends and High Mountain coffee are kept separately and labelled as what they are.
Who we buy from. We are the authorized online reseller for Stoneleigh, Island Blue, Jablum, Wallenford, Marley Coffee, Coffee Traders and Coffee Roasters of Jamaica.
Our proof. Coffee Roasters of Jamaica has certified One Happy Coffee as a distributor of its Jamaica Blue Mountain® coffee for the USA, Canada and Europe. The certificate is on our home page: see it here.

Where it ships from. Many orders ship directly from Jamaica. Some coffees are also stocked in our Florida warehouse, which gets them to you sooner. Every listing shows its delivery time under the price, so you know before you order.
If you're not happy. We accept returns, sent to our US address. Details are on our Returns & Refunds page.
Who comes back. About 4 in 10 of our customers come back and order again. We think that says more than any claim we could make, and so do they:
"My husband and I have been obsessed with Blue Mountain coffee for years but haven't found a trusted distributor … until now." Jaclyn P.
"I have only one luxury and it is Wallenford coffee. … One Happy Coffee has been a faithful supplier for a number of years and their excellent service is well appreciated." William K.
Buying Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee as a gift
Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is one of the most popular coffee gifts in the US, and for good reason. A few tips if you're buying for someone else:
- Order early around the holidays, especially for listings that ship from Jamaica.
- Choose whole bean if they grind their own coffee, and ground if they don't. One of our customers, a real coffee enthusiast, once told us that ground coffee makes little sense for Blue Mountain coffee lovers, and for the freshest cup he's right. Our guide to whole bean vs ground can help.
- Look at the presentation. Stoneleigh's burlap-wrapped multi-packs and Wallenford's two-pack make a lovely gift on their own.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee on Amazon real? Some of it is. Genuine Jamaican brands are sold there, but so are blends and look-alikes. Check the seller and look for "100%" and a named Jamaican producer.
Can I buy genuine Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee in US grocery stores? Occasionally, but most grocery bags are blends. Read the label for the percentage.
What's the fastest way to get it in the US? On our site, listings that show "3–5 days" are the quickest. Coffee stocked in our Florida warehouse usually arrives in about five days.
Is coffee roasted in Jamaica better than coffee roasted in the US? Not automatically. Coffee roasted and packed in Jamaica carries the producer's name and origin all the way to your door, which many buyers value. Coffee roasted in the US from certified green beans can be just as genuine and may have a fresher roast date. What matters is that the seller can show you where it came from.
